Lady of the Light

If there's any place I really want to visit the most beside Taj Mahal in Agra, India, it must be the city of Medina al Munawarra, this strong feeling of wanting comes after I read some books about the life story of Fatimah Az Zahra the daughter of Prophet (pbuh) and the beauty of her marriage life with Ali bin Abu Thalib as well.

Fatimah, the only daughter of the Holy prophet of Islam, was born I Mecca on 20 Th. Jumada ' th - thaniyah 18 BH. The good and noble lady Khadijah and the apostle of Allah bestowed all their natural love, care and devotion on their lovable and only child Fatimah, who in her turn was extremely fond of her parents. The princess of the House of the Prophet, was very intelligent, accomplished and cheerful. Her sermons, poems and sayings serve, as an index to her strength of character and nobility of mind. Her virtues gained her the title " Our Lady of light. she was tall, slender and endowed with great beauty, which caused her to be called " az - Zahra' " ( the Lady of Light). she was called az - Zahra' because her light used to shine among those in Heaven. After arriving in Medina, she was married to ` Ali , in the first year hijrah, and she gave birth to three sons and two daughters. Her children, Hasan, Husayn, Zaynab and umm kul-thum. are well - known for their piety , goodness and generosity Their strength of character and actions changed the course of history. The Holy Prophet said, " Fatimah is a peace of my heart". He would go out to receive his doughtier whenever she come from her husband's house.

There are so many good things like bravery, generousity, sincerity, and purity that I've learned a lot from her life and character, and so that is how then I think I'm badly missing her after I've finished reading the books. Oh, when will I could visit this house of hers? InsyaAllah, someday. InsyaAllah :)

Assalaam Alaikum Mustika,

MashaAllah, that was a wonderful read. Thanks for sharing!

I too am extremely impressed with the character of Fatima (RA). She sounds like an incredible person! Insha'Allah, hopefully we all have the chance to meet her in Jannah, and of course travel to the beautiful cities of Makkah and Medina. =)

Wonderful :) As much as we write about Fatima (as), we will never be able to give her enough credit for all she was made of. Her patience and endurance and compassion were unlike any other. It is no wonder that our Messenger (saw) used to call her "Umme Abiha- the mother of her father".

@nia: amin allahumma amin. thanks nia!

@sara: waalaikumussalam sara, you're welcome.. insyaAllah... amiiin..

@jnana: that's right sis, her love for her father was immense and could not be described. after the death of her mother, she made a great effort to comfort her father and immediately began to take care of his affairs and needs. that's one of the reasons why she was known as Umme Abiha.

@Misha: I just read some books about her written by local bookwriters from my country here.. but here are another some good reads I can relate to:

- Mother of the Believers, by Kamran Pasha. This one is actually a historical novel that tells the story of the rise of Islam through the eyes of Aisha; Muhammad's youngest wife.

- Banat an-Nabiy (Biography of Prophet's Daughters) by Dr.'Aisyah 'Abdurrahman

- Fatimah is Fatimah by Dr. Ali Shariati. even though this bibliography was sourced from sunni historical documents, we need to be careful to his Shia view. Wallahualam.

Mashallah thats a lovely post. The Prophet (S) said she is the leading lady of Jannah. SubhanAllah. He (S) also said at various occassions, "Fatima s a part of me. Whoever loves Fatima, loves me; whoever angers her angers me; and whoever hurts her, hurts me." SubhanAllah.

and just a lil correction. Fatima (a.s) gave birth to two sons Hasan (a.s)and Husayn (a.s) She suffered a miscarriage with her third son (whom they had named "Mohsen") while there was turmoil in the ummah after the demise of our Prophet (a.s) when the door of her house was pushed onto her.

I find Fatima is Fatima to be the best and most comprehensive of biographies, besides the book Fatima- The Gracious. It just needs an open mind.

Jazakallah for this post.
